KEY TAKEAWAYS:

  • Mobilicom’s drone manufacturing unit SkyHopper secured its tenth design win, the customer being Percepto.
  • The design has been selected by Percepto to fortify Sparrow I, its existent platform that
specializes in carrying out onsite aerial surveillance of industrial units, shipping ports, sea terminals and so on, all of which require round-the-clock monitoring.
  • To ensure optimal functioning of Sparrow I, every industrial site where it has been
deployed needs a base unit that would facilitate landing, recharge, maintenance and support, thus enabling this platform to be an excellent solution for modern-day
    requirements.

Mobilicom announced on 29 th May, 2018 that it had managed to secure a new design win – the
tenth for SkyHopper – with Percepto, a renowned global drone manufacturer. While this victory places Mobilicom is a dominant position wherein it can capitalize on the rapid growth and expansion in the drone segment, for Percepto it implies integrating SkyHopper with its already existent Sparrow I platform.

Having collaborated with several European and American service providers, Percepto’s attempt
at POC (Proof of Concept) has met with success so far. The company is credited with having launched the onsite fully-autonomous drone mechanism for Enel, an Italian entity in the electricity and gas segment. Designed as an autonomous drone, Sparrow I is capable of carrying out aerial scrutiny of industrial environments, like; gas, sea terminals, shipping ports and so on, wherein security is crucial.

For Sparrow I to carry out its surveillance smoothly, a base unit is set up on the site of operation for facilitating landing and recharging operations of the drone. It can also help with transfer of data, provide maintenance support and verify if and when repairs are required. Sparrow I is not just easy to use but also requires minimal maintenance and hence is an excellent solution for
improving efficiency and cutting down risks. CEO of Percepto, Dor Abuahsira, regards this partnership as a natural fortification of Sparrow I
in terms of enhancing its security capabilities as also operational range, both of which are essential requisites in today’s era.
