Oz Medicann Group (OMG) Pty Ltd is excited to announce our participation in The Future Food System (FFS) Cooperative Research Centre (CRC) program. As an industry participant to The FFS CRC, OMG has begun to work with universities, government, and other industry leaders to identify opportunities for future food sustainability. Hemp, being widely considered as one of the world’s most sustainable crops, is placed in a unique position to encourage food sustainability.

The CRC program, administered by the Australian Department of Industry, Innovation and Science is a program aimed to support collaboration on industry research, competitiveness, and sustainability to solve industry-specific problems while preparing Australian industries to be competitive in a global market. The Department sees collaborative research between the University Sector, Government, and Industry as vital to the success of Australian products in the international marketplace.

This unique program offers an opportunity for the greatest minds and industry specialists to come together to identify and develop solutions for future food systems that are underpinned by evidence-based practice and aligned to industry standards.
The FFS CRC program, led by NSW Farmers, the University of New South Wales, and Food Innovation Australia Ltd and Industry, is designed around bolstering Australia’s readiness to meet the market demands for food exports:

  • Supply Chain Transformation
  • Sustainable Urban Food Systems
  • Value Adding and Product Innovation
  • Capability Building

As a result of bringing together a group of organisations with a common interest, the FFS CRC has positioned itself as a team with immense ability to tackle the issues facing the industry. Through OMG’s contributions in developing capability, providing insight, and financial support, we believe we can assist in creating an optimistic future for agribusiness in Australia. As current producers of food-grade hemp products and key proponents of future medicinal cannabis cultivation, OMG has a
vested interest in the research opportunities both in the domestic and international market. Moreover, the ability to further OMG’s mission to educate future industry leaders through programs like the FFS CRC and Nucleate through collaboration with Australia’s leading universities makes our decision to be involved a clear choice.

As can be seen through our consistent participation in several collaborative programs with an array of partners, OMG is dedicated to the growth, advancement, and commercialisation of the Hemp and medicinal cannabis cultivation industry in Australia.
