The first half of FY18 has been extremely strong for Solar Analytics with a 10% month-on-month growth in sales of our solar energy management solution. Solar Analytics has received two major grants including up to $1M from Hawaiian-based Elemental Excelerator to develop a peer-to-peer shared electricity trading that connects solar owners and with non-solar owners. We have also received $1.9M from the Australian Government’s Cooperative Research Centre Program (CRC-P) to build new solar home energy management capabilities on top of our existing software offering.
On top of the development of the raft of new features that these opportunities present, we have released: an interactive Tariff feature to improve the accuracy of our savings data; the Android version of our very popular MySolar app (previously released for iOS); a new range of personalised on-site customer displays; and the world’s most powerful smart meter solar diagnostics solution.
The CRC-P grant will enable an additional research partnership with the UNSW, and we have secured partnerships with Ergon Energy, SA Power Networks, and smart technology providers Wattwatchers and SwitchDin to realise the platform. We have also established a partnership with deX (decentralised Energy Exchange) – allowing our energy management software to integrate with the deX marketplace.
This first half of the year has seen remarkably strong growth in our solar sales to the commercial sector. Our customer-facing display option highlights key solar achievements for businesses to showcase to the public, and is now on display at Bunnings stores across Australia (with more to roll-out), Mitre 10 stores, in the Young Henrys Brewery tasting room in Newtown, and several schools, with more in development.
Our sales results also benefited from October’s Australian Solar Council All-Energy expo, which was a huge success for Solar Analytics. Our CEO Chaired a session, our Business Development Director presented in two sessions, and our sales team was swamped with interest from resellers. We have supported our reseller marketing activity with a fortnightly podcast on Australia’s premiere solar and energy news and opinion website Renew Economy, co-hosted by editor Giles Parkinson and our Business Development Director Nigel Morris.
We round off December with the recognition of our chair and co-Founder, Dr Renate Egan as one of Renewable Energy World’s Eight Great Women in the Business and Science of Solar around the world. Renate joins an exceptional cohort of our industry’s pioneers who are described as having “worked tirelessly educating, conducting research and deploying solar technologies to ensure the future of the industry.” As a certified BCorp, our staff diversity is particularly important to us as a business.
