Cirrus announces a second fusion energy sub-contract to provide “quench layer” coating technology to the world leader in premium superconducting wire. Cirrus technology will enable the highest critical current, high-temperature superconducting wire to be deployed as toroidal superconducting magnets, producing smaller, low-cost tokamak-based fusion systems than possible with existing technology.

This initial contract offers the potential for Cirrus to scale over the long term to support the estimated 6,000km per annum demand for high-temperature superconducting wire within the next five years.
