JetPack Aviation has announced that it is training its first civilian pilot to fly the commercially available jetpack. Mischa Pollack, a video blogger from Los Angeles, will learn the ropes at Jetpack Aviation’s tethered training facility in Southern California.
KEY TAKEAWAYS:
- The Bond-style gadget uses two miniature jet engines strapped to a harness.
- Until now, only David Mayman, the firm’s CEO, has tested the jetpack.
- JetPack Aviation ran a competition to allow one civilian to be trained.
- It has now selected Mischa Pollack, a video blogger, as the winner.
In November, the firm announced that the jetpack was on sale to ‘well qualified buyers.’
But in parallel, it also ran a competition to give someone a chance to fly one for themselves.
The firm revealed that the winner was Mr Pollack in a post on its website. It is unclear when Mr Pollack will begin his training.
Until now, David Mayman, CEO of JetPack Aviation, was the only person to use one of the jetpacks.
Mr Mayman worked with a team of engineers to build the one-person vertical take-off device, which he recently flew over London.
