Turbine Moves Silently to Greener Future

A SILENT wind turbine that aims to offset energy bills and reduce f a rming’s carbon footpr int is set to be released in Tasmania soon.

Eco Whisper Turbine business development manager Michael Le Messurier said the new technology will appeal to Circular Head farmers who want to reduce their energy bills by taking advantage of the wind in the area. “Tasmania is a supportive area for wind turbines as there is a lot of wind. Its p r ima ry aim is to off-set energy bills, especially in Tasmania where bills are estimated to increase by up to 30 per cent in the next five years,” he said. The f i r s t -of – i t s -kind wind turbine, which stands 21 metres high and produces 20 kilowatts of energy, will produce enough energy to cover costs in six to ten ye a rs a f t er purchase, depending on average wind speed.
