Sprint Commences Operations at Tomsk Project

Sprint Energy Ltd (“Sprint”) (ASX Code: SPS) is pleased to provide an update on the update on the progress of the operations at the Tomsk Project, Russia.
Since signing the agreement to acquire 74% of Bakcharneftegaz (BNG) earlier this month, (ASX annoucement, 7 December 2012) preparations for the winter field operation on license 71-1 in the prolific West Siberian Basin are progressing on schedule. Through BNG, the Russian partner and operator, Sprint has started mobilisation of essential equipment to the Elley- Igaiskaya #4 well site for its planned re-entry and subsequent evaluation, This is the first of a two phased operation, the second being the drilling of a new well to 4000m to test the commercial potential of the Palaeozoic carbonates carbonates that produced two hydrocarbon blow outs in the two Elley-Igaiskaya # 2 and # 4 wells only 400m away (see ASX announcement 6 November 2012).
