Today, Pink Hygiene Solutions enhanced its green credentials by being the first hygiene service provider to sign‐up with innovative recycler Relivit. Under the terms of the agreement thousands of tonnes of nappy and female hygiene waste will be directed away from landfill and sent for processing at Relivit’s state of the art recycling plant to be located south of Sydney.

The recycling plant, the first of its type in Australia, will commence operations in 2014. Using a patented technology, wood fibre and plastics can be safely reclaimed from disposable nappies, incontinence pads and female hygiene products, known collectively as Absorbent Hygiene Waste (AHW). As a result a 95% reduction in waste to landfill is achieved, almost halving the associated carbon emissions.

“At the heart of our approach to business is a focus on doing what’s right for our customers and the community. As Australia’s leading hygiene solutions provider we have a responsibility towards environmental sustainability. By signing up with Relivit we are able to improve the environmental outcomes of our services, whilst maintaining quality and competitive pricing.” Mr Alain Moffroid, Pacific Managing Director of Rentokil Initial (Pink’s parent company) explained.
