Highlights

  • The installation and ownership of the power station and gas pipeline infrastructure has allowed for reduced operating costs and expansion.
  • The works have provided improved production and financial outcomes.
  • Kalium Lakes to become the 2nd or 3rd lowest cost producer in the world.

Engineering and Design (FEED) works for the 100% owned Beyondie Sulphate Of Potash Project (Beyondie SOP Project or BSOPP) in Western Australia. The works, led by German experts K-UTEC have provided improved production and financial outcomes. The installation and ownership of the power station and gas pipeline infrastructure has allowed for reduced operating costs and essential infrastructure for SOP production expansion and future magnesium by-product delivery.

Key FEED outcomes include:

  • Overall potassium recovery improvement from 72% to 91%.
  • Increased production rate of 10% 90ktpa SOP Stage 1 facility ramping up to 180ktpa SOP Full Scale Facility due to recovery improvement.
  • Mine life increased to in excess of 30 years and reduced pond size from 445ha to 399ha.

As a result of Kalium Lakes owning and operating the facility and the consequent recovery improvement, the Life of Mine operating costs have decreased significantly to ~US$178-207/t FOB. Kalium Lakes is set to become the 2nd or 3rd lowest cost producer in the world.

Capital costs have also been reduced through less brine extraction infrastructure and the reduced pond size. The key focus of the company remains to operate profitably throughout the normal commodity pricing cycles.
