KEY TAKEAWAYS:

  • Chester have created a delivery solution that can solve The ‘Last Mile’ problem.
  • The patented solution can sense when a delivery is made and secures the delivery until the consumer is home.

The ‘Last Mile’ problem is a term used in supply chain management and transportation planning to describe the movement of people and goods from a transportation hub to a final destination in the home.

With the continuous growth in e-commerce, the problems of the ‘Last Mile’ will continue to exist.

When it comes to the last mile, there are three main players involved in the supply chain: consumers, retailers and couriers. All three are suffering specific (and different) pain points. Here’s a breakdown:

85% of consumers want their goods delivered to their home, but not into it, busy consumers don’t want to wait for deliveries and they want a convenient solution that works for them.

Retailers need to keep their customers satisfied to maintain their online shopping retention rates, if consumers are not satisfied they will not purchase again. Offering quick delivery and narrow timeframe windows is expensive. Amazon’s fulfilment costs (as a % of sales) have increased by 6% over the past 10 years.

Missed deliveries are costly and inconvenient for couriers, with stolen deliveries being a huge issue as ‘Authorisation To Leave’  is not a viable solution.

Getting all courier companies and retailers to integrate a solution before winning over the customer is difficult. While getting only some retailers and couriers integrated significantly reduces the effectiveness of the solution for the consumer who want to be able to shop anywhere.

Chester believe the key to solving this supply chain problem is to start at the very end – with the consumer; not the retailer and not the courier.

How can goods be delivered from any retailer/courier at a customer’s home, without the customer needing to be there and without the need for an integrated scanner, API, access code or dongle?

Chester have created a delivery solution that overcomes this problem.

Chester’s patented OPEN unattended delivery solution can sense when a delivery is made and secures it outside the home of a consumer until they are home to unlock the chest and safely take their product inside.

The exact time and weight of each delivery is conveniently communicated to them via a mobile app.

The Managing Partner of Magnetic Alliance Capital sees the nation’s richest investment opportunities hiding in plain sight: inside thousands of unglamorous, profitable, but operationally sluggish mid-market businesses. Speaking on Wholesale Investor’s […]

The asset class where the market has no vote

Litigation funding returns are decided in a courtroom, not a cycle. Knightsbridge’s Head of Capital is careful to call that a different risk rather than a lower one, and his answer to it is spread, not concentration. Most alternative assets still answer to something. Property answers to rates. Private credit answers to defaults. Even the […]

The listing fee vendors pay whether the house sells or not

Australia’s property portals collect more than $2 billion a year while national listings sit flat. An Australian-built AI platform is targeting the economics, not just the interface. An Australian vendor listing a home pays a vendor-paid advertising fee on top of agency commission. Rama Dwarapudi, Founder and Chief Executive Officer of RealSearch, puts a typical […]
