First Graphene Limited has announced the launch of its 50% owned associate company, 2D Fluidics Pty Ltd. The company was developed in collaboration with Flinders University Institute for NanoScale Science and Technology. The establishment of 2D Fluidics is to commercialise the Vortex Fluidic Device (VFD) to produce a range of materials and comprises of two patents around the production of carbon nanomaterials. The VFD was created by Flinders University’s, Professor Colin Raston in South Australia.
First Graphene Limited produce high-quality graphene from Sri Lankan vein graphite and this new position will position them as the leading graphene company.
The VFD represents the development of a new chemical processing space. It provides a new clean approach to creating new materials such as graphene and sliced carbon nanotubes. The clean approach of not having to use harsh or toxic chemicals in the manufacturing process will reduce costs and improve the efficiency of manufacturing these new carbon materials. 2D Fluidics will both manufacture the VFD and use the VFD to prepare material for commercial sales. VFD is forecasted to become a research tool for university worldwide bringing strong revenue to the new company.
