FIVE sectors together got almost 50% of the 10B dollars invested in Australian companies in 2021. 😵

Here’s a breakdown:

1. FinTech $2.5B (25% of the total)

2. Enterprise/Business Software $970M (10% of the total)

3. PropTech/ RealTech/ Construction $683M (7% of the total)

4. MarTech/ EdTech/ SalesTech $672M (7% of the total)

5. BioTech/ MedTech $573M (6% of the total)

Unsurprisingly, Blockchain/Crypto/Web3 startups saw the largest percentage gain in deal count – $227M in 20 deals in 2021, up from just one in 2020.

Other smaller but fast-growing sectors of note included Marketplaces (36x 2021 vs 9x 2020), Social Networking/Media (23x 2021 vs 8x 2020), and DevTech/Developer Tools (14x 2021 vs 7x 2020).
